I am always in search of a good Ted Talk. This one did not disappoint. Clients have said this talk has been helpful in opening a dialogue about this often difficult topic.
Michele Weiner-Davis, MSW, is an internationally renowned relationship expert, best-selling author, marriage therapist, and professional speaker. She is unabashedly in favor of repairing and preserving marriages. Similarly, I am initially biased to repairing and preserving relationships whenever it’s helpful to both parties. You can find out more about her work at divorcebusting.com.
Although the talk is mainly about different sex drives in marriage, I believe her advice can be generalized to any situation where one spouse is “starved” for something (more quality time, more dates, more compliments, more talks about the finances, etc…), while the other isn’t. She shares pertinent stories, observations, and solutions of what to do when one spouse is more “needy” than the other. This inevitable difference of needs will be relevant to any marriage relationship. I hope it can be beneficial to your marriage:
